ABOUT THE COURSE
The purpose of this course is to acquaint you with interpersonal communication theory and research. You should benefit from your accumulated skills and knowledge in this course in your present circumstances as well as in your future roles as an employee, parent, friend, and/or spouse.
Objectives of the Course:
Upon completion of this course, you should demonstrate:
- Understanding of the intricacies of relational communication
- Understanding of the role of research in defining and explaining the complexities of human communication, broadly, and relationships, in particular
- Familiarity with issues that are salient to interpersonal encounters, including culture, listening, perception, verbal & nonverbal communication, emotion, social support
- Expertise in evaluating interpersonal conflict and identifying appropriate conflict resolution strategies
- Ability to use what you have learned in class and apply it to your relationships in and out of the classroom
